Journey to Sobriety - 34 Years and Count

Journey To Sobriety:

34 Years and Counting

Tom Morgan went from riches to rags, from bar fights to making peace with those he hurt and from a life of turmoil to a life of peace, contentment and helping others. He is happily married, plays a guitar for his own amusement, and has collected the stories and ideas that form the basis for this book on "Recovery" for over three decades. He doesn't believe there is a magic formula or a free ride to the kind of life he now enjoys, only the willingness to believe that you or a loved one can find your own road to recovery. God's "Amazing Grace" is there for everyone if they will give it a chance.

Journey To Sobriety:

Forty Years and Counting

I drank in places where I fit in. I was a hustler, a full blown alcoholic, and an occasional brawler; I didn't stand out because we all were pretty much the same in the joints I chose.

I was pretty sure I would not live long, as I was always walking on the edge. I thought I was destined for either prison or early death. I met guys from the twelve-step program while in county jail. They came in to do meetings. They talked to me once in a while, but I was not interested. I always felt a kinship with these guys, but I wasn't ready.

UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER

When a person's life is in free fall, the consequences start piling up. What you're doing is not working, and you feel hopeless. You are ready for unconditional surrender.

Unconditional surrender occurs when you can no longer deny the wreckage of your life. Your addiction is what has caused this hopeless condition, and you are willing to do anything to change. You become honest, open and willing to do whatever you have to do to stop the bleeding.

To once again have hope, to once again be trusted and respected, to repair broken relationships, to become a better person. These are the miracles waiting for you behind the door of recovery. And the key to that door is unconditional surrender.
